Makes me cry every time...

NEWSONG
The Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Chorus:
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

Bridge:
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about

So I've got this feeling...

this lovin' feelin'. Hahaha no I'm just kidding. I actually almost feel like I'm back in senior year at the very end when I didn't want to do any work at all. And I felt burnt out. Luckily I don't feel really burnt out, I just don't want to do any work! I'm getting so lazy! And it's worse than high school because I actually have a lot of time to be lazy now that volleyball is over. I start at 8:30 most mornings and I'm done by 1:20 on T-W-F. On Monday I'm done at 12 and Thursdays just suck. But I'm having major post-Thanksgiving-itis. Maybe all that tryptophan is stuck in my system in large quantities. So I'm trying step it up and finish strong.
My exam schedule is pretty nice. I wish I were done on Tuesday (which could have been a reality) but as it is I have an exam on M-W-F. Nothing on Tuesday or Thursday. So I can't really complain. And I won't! :)
As we start to make plans to see each other over Christmas break I am getting increasingly excited. I really can't wait to see you all. Be prepared for some of the biggest, most awkward hugs of your life. Be ready.
Here's something I learned in anatomy today. A lot of times when someone has a spinal injury i.e. a football player who got tackled by the Hulk, they are paralyzed. Doctors tell the patient that they don't know if the paralysis is temporary or permanent. They have to say this. When a spinal cord injury occurs that means that a lot of spinal cells are now dead, meaning they have ruptured and spilled potassium (K+) into the body. Until the body cleans up all the excess potassium there can be no action potential in the cells and therefore no movement. So the doctors have to wait for your body to clean up before they can accurately tell if someone is going to be permanently paralyzed. Isn't that cool????

No parkin' baby...

Holy moly, the past couple of weeks have been so crazy!! There has been so much going on! And I have an 8-10 page paper due on Wednesday and I have my muscle practical (where I'm responsible for knowing almost every muscle in the human body) on Tuesday. Oh yes. Fun stuff, right?
Volleyball season is also almost over. We have what could possibly be our last game of the season on Tuesday against Concordia at Concordia. We had our last home game on Saturday so it was also the day that we recognized all of the seniors on the team. I was crying and I'm only a freshman so I haven't even known these seniors for a whole year. But if you met any of them you would love them. But anyways... you have no idea who those people are so this must be intensely boring for you. :)
Has anyone else registered for their classes yet?? It was one of the most stressful things ever. I was freaking out! I had a really late registration time so what seemed like a million other freshman were able to steal that classes I wanted away from me. So I checked the classes that I wanted about a half hour before my registration time begins only to find that all of the classes I wanted were taken, the other classes were filling up fast, and that had to rearrange my entire schedule in a half hour and try to make it work while also managing to steer clear of all the professors that I knew I didn't want thanks to ratemyprofessor.com. So I was late to small group (my leader was completely fine with it, she told a tale of her own horror stories) and I registered in the beginning of my chemistry lab. Seriously, some of the people here are pretty cool. And I'm sure that there are many people at your college who are pretty cool. It's just an awesome world that God has made!!!
I had a point when I started this post but I think I lost it when I started randomly bustin out some dance moves to my iTunes. Riiiiiiight. But at least I'm not in danger of being a dead friend!
Happy Sunday everyone and have an incredible week!!!!

... no parkin' on the dance floor!
